چکیده

5 ml aliquots of chloroform: methanol (2:1) containing 5 mg of cephalin (animal)/ml w e r e agitated for 10 rain with 2.0 ml aqueous solution containing NaC1 116 n~ , KCI 2.5 raM, CaCI2 1.5 m.~, and MgC12 in concentrations ranging from 0.7 up to 16 mM at pH 6.0. After centrifugation and separation of the two phases Ca ++ and Mg ++ concentrations were determined in the upper (water -b methanol) layer. Experiments in which cephalin was substituted by extracted lipids (uterus, brain) and MgCls substituted by MgSO4 have given similar results.

The effect of nifedipine and baclofen on spinal anesthesia induced by local anesthetics

The primary mode of action of local anesthetics is through sodium channel and axonal conduction blockade. Local anesthetics have also extensive effects on pre-synaptic calcium channels that must function to stimulate the release of neurotransmitters. Thus, interference with calcium channel conductance may enhance spinal anesthesia with local anesthetics. The present study was designed to invest...

Magnesium Sulfate as an Adjuvant to Anesthesia in Patients with Arterial Hypertension

There is limited evidence showing that elevated arterial blood pressure in surgical patients may be associated with increased perioperative risk; however, cardiovascular instability frequently occurs during anesthesia. The most commonly used anesthetic agents, both intravenous and inhalation ones, produce a decrease in arterial blood pressure. Magnesium, acting as a natural calcium-channel bloc...
